About us
OBOIVU began on 6th February 2008 as a Community Based Organisation, Christian Youth Missionary Group Kinawataka. To serve every vulnerable youth in Uganda without discriminating by religion, political affiliation or tribe, we rebranded — and on 13th October 2021 obtained our URSB certificate to operate as One By One Initiative for Vulnerable Communities in Uganda.

Our method
Every programme is built around a demonstration site — a garden bed, a toilet block, a classroom — where the first cohort learns by doing, then teaches the next.
We work first with the most vulnerable households in Kinawataka, regardless of religion, political affiliation or tribe.
Hands-on training at a real demonstration site — not a classroom lecture — so the skill is muscle memory by the time it's needed.
The first cohort goes on to teach the next, one household at a time, so the skills outlast any single programme cycle.
What we do
Hands-on training in organic urban farming, IMO and demonstration gardens — turning ghetto plots into food and income.
Equipping the most vulnerable slum women and youths with knowledge and climate-resilient skills, including charcoal briquette making.
Public toilets, clean-up exercises with KCCA, and health outreach that tackle poor drainage and water-borne disease at the source.
